Faint, faint hope; anyone on the flist use Jape and know how to get it running? New Logic prof had us all download it, which I just did and I have absolutely no idea how to work it. Running is probably the wrong word because I can open the program easily enough, I just... have no idea what to do. None of the example files (for ND, which is what I'm after, anyway) will open either.

Um. Help? *goes to look for appropriate community*

From memory (it's been a long time), you have to load in some axioms or something and then you can make your inferences from there. One of my friends used to tutor the course where we used Jape here, so I'll ask him when I see him.

Ah, thanks. *sigh* I've figured a bit how to work it but it's still, well, confusing.

... it probably doesn't help that I've gone straight into trying to do the toughest proof he gave us, but I did all the others on paper already, dammit, I can't be mucking around with them again...

Just try a few really simple proofs to get the hang of it. It's not all that different to any other computational logic system - it's just a matter of syntax I guess.
