Aaaaand it's been awhile since I did the lyric meme, and I'm booooored. So! You know the drill, 20 songs, random select, favourite lyrics, I post 'em, you guess artist & title.

1. I'm asking you please no!
It isn't right, it isn't fair,

You said we wouldn't do it again.
Time that you go,
Time for you to see,
You're not helping yourself by hurting me.
Better - Brooke Fraser

4. Laughing on the bus
Playing games with the faces
She said the man in the gaberdine suit was a spy;
I said, be careful, his bowtie is really a camera.

My power is in my own hands
Ooh- people talk about you,
People say you've had your day.

6. Dreamin' awhile, schemin' awhile,
you're sure to find happiness,

Rain in the clouds above,
Some moments last forever,
and some flare out in love.

When I go I'm going like Elsie!
Cabaret - Liza Minelli (Cabaret OST)

12. So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen.

[livejournal.com profile] keymash

13. And sappy songs about sex and cheating
Bland accounts of two lovers meeting
Make me want to give mankind a beating.
And you might say it's self-destructive,
But you see I'd kick the bucket
Fifty times before I'd kick the habit.
Bad Habit - The Dresden Dolls
[livejournal.com profile] manic_subbie

14. To be together in this air we breathe,
You say forever, but I know you've gotta go
What is it you are, are you a dream?

Although today has run away from you
I won't believe you tonight.

20. With the lights on, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us.
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
[livejournal.com profile] keymash

Every time I do this meme I remember just how much Simon & Garfunkel I have on here (about one and a half gigs, which is not insignificant on a 40G harddrive.) I, um, cheat with this meme, and only put on the first two S&G songs. :P Otherwise it would be about half them - I don't know why, as I do have another 15 or so gigs of, you know, different artists. Just one of those things, I guess.

I ASSURE YOU I AM NOT IGNORING YOU except in the sense of not replying to your comments because I am HUGELY HUMILIATED. I keep ringing my brother (from my actual cellphone so you can comfort yourself that I'm costing myself money, or something) and he keeps being a spaz BUT he will either take it in in the next two days OR I will when I visit wellington on Friday. PROMISE.

Next time: postal service.

Also, those are all correct, and since #12 is actually the moulin rouge version that is totally legit knowledge. :P

Most of the ones I knew have already been guessed, but number three is Brooke Fraser's first release, which I love, but can't think the name of. (Which was brilliant English).

Ok, feeling like a huge asshat for not being able to get any of the songs that are left...and here I was thinking I do a good impression of a music geek! :P Might have to try again later...

But, I must comment on your fantastic taste in music, in regards to song number 16! The White Stripes= hot love. I am going to marry Jack White. You've Got Her In Your Pocket is an awesome song...so chilling and creepy and posessive, but yet Jack sings it so sweetly and tenderly and you can't help falling for him all the more. Actually Elephant as a whole is a brilliant album.

"It's quite possible I'm your third man, girl. But it's a fact I'm the seventh son...." Awesome.

Ooooh, and buy the way I now have Dear Catastrophe Waitress on my iPod. Absolutely. Freaking. Brilliant.

*grin* Well, there's only three left, so I'll forgive you if you don't get them (especially because none of them are exactly, you know, smash hits.)

I like Elephant a lot too, actually, although I'm not an obsessive WS fan or anything.

Aw, and Lovers in a Dangerous Time is originally by a Canadian singer/songwriter dude called Bruce Cockburn. I only know that cos there's a sneaky wee reference to it in a song called God Part II by U2, from the Rattle and Hum album.

No, I'm not obsessed at all...*snerk*
