Last week I ripped my last contact lens (I wear month disposables) that's the right prescription for my left eye, and of course it was in the middle of the holiday season so I couldn't get any new ones. This worked out okay, because I have a sneaking feeling that my prescription's changed a bit, so I thought, well, I'll just wait 'til I can have an eye check-up and wear my glasses til then - it's not ideal, because their frame is incredibly bent out of shape and they fall off my face easily and also they're two prescriptions out of date and sometimes give me headaches, but whatever, it's not an emergency.

However. This afternoon I was bouncing on the trampoline, as I am wont to do, and my glasses fall off mid-flip. This is pretty normal; they go skidding off onto the grass, also fairly normal. I thought they landed about a metre off the tramp, so I hop off to land about a foot away. on reflection, possibly jumping onto an area of grass where my glasses might be when I couldn't actually see the ground might not have been the smartest idea. There was this sort of sickening snap, and when I picked them up... oh yeah, one of the pathetic fragile arms has snapped clean off. Not in half, or anything, which would be fairly easy to tape up; oh no, on the hinge, right up near the lenses. Motherfuck.

*grouches* They're a huge pain to tape up, it keeps coming off, my glasses are actually sitting sideways on my face so my viewing area is even more limited and to top it all off, I have to buy contact lenses on my current prescription because there's no time to have an check up. Frig, frag, frak, and other genre swears!

That is precisely what happened to my glasses when I stepped on them. Try reinforcing the tape with any sort of small metal bar (I used a shoulder rest screw/key thing...)

That sucks... Christmas is a bad time to run out of lenses! I'm on my last pair and they're like 2 months old... and since I don't wear them much they make my eyes even gunkier than usual when I do. I want new ones :(

... obscurely, this comment really annoyed me when I first read it - like, I got really angry - and it still does now, and I really can't figure out why? So I didn't want to be sarky when, hi, I'm insane.

how was your christmas?

Fun. I mean, tiring, with the whole driving thing, but it was really awesome to see my family, and Mike slotted into the family Christmas quite nicely, which bodes well.

Mike has torn, like, three contacts, and now has no money to buy more (and more solution) 'till Feb, so he's in your boat (hacked off and part-blind.) Sorry if it came across the wrong way.

Ah, the woes of myopia. I can relate--I just dropped one of my hard contacts down the sink this morning, and my parents spent the entire morning fishing it out and yelling at me to finish my college apps. I've never had anything that, um, spectacular happen to me before. SPECtacular ahahahahaha--*is shot* Sympathies D:

If all else fails, you could tape them to the inside of a pair of cheap sunglasses with the lenses (of the sunglasses, that is) popped out, just as an interrim solution. It'll look rather dorky, mind.

*SPEC*TACULAR

Duuuuuude. That is exactly why I chose not to get hards (that, and [livejournal.com profile] sixth_light has them and they irritate her eyes a lot, so I've been really put off them.)

ahahahaha I'm not quite that desperate yet. I jst have to avoid turning around too fast - and, actually, I got new contacts now, so, phew. :P

Awww.

I can't even get contacts because I have astigmatism and two different prescriptions and it would be like, $300CND a month or something stupid.

But I did get new glasses and they make me happy. And I think I wear my glasses weird so they're normally tilted. xD.

jebus, that sucks. I have astigmatism, but mild, and my prescriptions differ only slightly - 3.75 and 3.5 - and six of each put me back $180, which I thought sucked, but - ouch! $300? yech.

:D My nose has a funny bump and these frames are really thin and bendy (HUGE mistake, never getting bendy glasses again) so mine are often crooked, but the way I have them now is ridiculous.

You...have the same prescription as me.

WTFZOMG.

From: [identity profile] bad-mushroom.livejournal.com
The left one.

This is very strange. And yeah, I have an astigmatism too; thus, the stronger prescription.
