Have been revoltingly productive this week; am so great I cannot stand myself.

Monday the family went to visit my Nana, my father's mum, which I thought was going to be dire but was actually really nice. Tuesday I lazed around, hit the beach, walked home around the bays (GORGEOUS), etc. Wednesday we went to see my great-uncle Brian and his partner Clint do their exhibition... thingy... um, their latest project which is a CD and an artwork to go with each song. Brian plays sax and wrote the songs and Clint, obviously, did the paintings. They're quite cool. Plus, family. It sort of reminds me of those fannish multimedia projects except, of course, without the in-jokes and heavy emphasis on porn.

Thursday I sat and passed my liquor license interview. \o/ I get my general manager's certificate as soon as they get the report from the Police to tell them that I'm not a criminal. This should make me more employable and all that good stuff, and I'm going to try for work in my local when I get back to Christchurch. I also had an eye exam and picked out some new glasses frames. :D I am so looking forward to being able to take my contacts out whole hours before I sleep.

Today I went to work and, hey, PACKED, on account of how I'm going back to the big old CHCH today. I also exchanged a skirt for a dress, it's really pretty (and, hey, I now have five dresses and two pairs of jeans. >.< Admittedly at least one, probably two of the dresses don't fit me yet, but still. I'm going to OD on denim when my final pay comes through.) Packing was ridiculously successful after a brief fight with the APs about the amount of clothes I was taking. They were kind of right so I took several out and, hey, now I have a fractional amount of space in my suitcase! Go me.

Aaaand... right now I am sitting around waiting to get Supernatural and trying to distract myself from watching the end of season Two of Gilmore Girls. (Hey, [livejournal.com profile] keymash, I'm halfway through disc 5 so I might even finish it before I leave tomorrow.) I am trying to avoid this because Rory and Dean are going to break up sometime soon and I hate that. I am a sucker for canon pairings and if you sell me on something, that's it, I'm sold. I never got over Angel/Buffy (and I say this as someone who adored Angel/Cordelia, but Spike/Buffy? really not my thing. At all.) I like Jess, he's cute and I love watching him with Paris, although the surly act really turns me off, but... GOD. I LIKE DEAN, OKAY, SO SUE ME, HE IS SWEET.

I also really, really hate the jealous boyfriend/lying paranoid girlfriend model of romantic tension. It smacks of the love triangle, which stinks, but mostly it's the infidelicious vibe
that makes me sadface. Which is why I am not watching 2x18 right now because oh, Dean. :(

ETA: Oh, yeah. Hey, what are the rules in the States about teenagers in bars? See, in NZ most bars are supervised areas, which means teens can't be in them unless they're with their parents. But there was a scene where Rory was with her mom and they were going clubbing and they had to lie about Rory's age to get her in. Huh?

I cannot stand you either. Dean is psychotic. He's sweet in s1 but by the time they break up he's not a good boyfriend. As far as I'm concerned he treats her like shit later on, too, although she's just as bad.

Okay, I still have six episodes to go so I could b wrong, but GAH, NO. Rory has been LYING to him. It's not psychosis if she really is lying. And if she doesn't want to keep going out with him which, hi, she obviously doesn't, it's her responsibility to FRONT UP. I HATE people on tee vee who cannot FRONT UP and BE HONEST.

Teenagers aren't allowed in bars at all, as far as I've noticed.

Well, the thing is here that I've never seen a teenager (um... without fake ID, anyway) in a bar and I wouldn't expect to - but the point is that they could if they had a parent.

Oh well, it seems strange to me. :P

Yeah, what I mean is that I've only noticed "No minors allowed" signs, without reference to parents. But I've never actually been in a bar...

I guess the thing to do would be to look up Connecticut law, huh?

Our host responsibility signs tend to have either on them. No ID No Sale is the big one, of course, but yeah.

Oh, hey, that's an idea! *snort*

My mum used to take us into some bars in the afternoon with her friends. They'd all have a drink, we'd get soft drink and bar food, wedges etc.

No problems.

Going in at night may have been different.

Yeah, but in NZ, right?

Teehee.

In Canada, you need to be 19 to get in a bar.

Barring fake IDs, of course. Being Asian in a fairly white city, I could probably borrow an ID from another Asian who IS 19 and they'd never notice. . .
