I actually cannot talk about Doctor Who except to say: I totally swooned at "decimate." He said "Decimate, I like that word" and I was like, "YEAH, me too, but I bet you're not going to kill only one in ten" and THEN HE SAID ONE IN TEN and I was like. *guh*
Also, his wife is hot although kind of pathetic in her last few scenes, it would have been nice if she'd been a bit more ARTICULATELY skeevy. Also, he really opened his mouth really obviously every time they made out, I wouldn't have thought that would be such a great media choice, although I suppose what with the HYPNOTISING VIBES (in cellphones, Very Funny, RTD) he didn't really have to worry.
I harth martha?
OK, I am rewatching it and now I have more to say. Total rambling, but hey: livejournal basically exists for people to ramble on and on and on and on and...
I did think the 3-second flashback was kind of a lame way to deal with the two-parter-that-is-a-three-parter - I mean, why not just tack that last scene onto the beginning? or the end? or - eh, OK, maybe it was more clever than lame.
How HILARIOUS is it that the Doctor's DECAPITATED HAND - um, wait, decapitated? dismembered - DISMEMBERED HAND is an important plot point? See, Jack, this is why you shouldn't keep ex-lovers' BODY PARTS.
I think it's awesome that the Master's CREEPY CREEPY MISOGYNY is a) common to both the Professor and Saxon and b) really obviously disapproved of intext.
God, the Master is so funny. Like - when that journalist lady is being tortured to death, and the screams, and the door gag? HEE. "99-98" got a laugh, I see why everyone is OMG JOHN SIMMS, I guess I really do have to watch Life on Mars now. Oh, the hardship.
I like Jack a lot. I really just do.
I adored Martha's telephone call with her family. Also, the Doctor's phone call with the Master (Just call me Suzie Q fangirl) - this was just a really good episode for phone calls all round.
omg I LOVED that the doctor was one of the kids who ran away. A+.
Where have I seen the kind of perception-shifting device or magic trick before? I KNOW I've seen/read it used elsewhere at least a couple of times.

Date: 2007-06-24 11:27 am (UTC)YOU KNOW WHAT, YOU DON'T GET TO MAKE SMART-SOUNDING POSTS ANYMORE. DECAPITATED MEANS BEHEADED. NOTHING TO DO WITH HANDS, OR ANY OTHER BODY PARTS WHATSOEVER. GO HOME. YOU SHOULD HAVE JUST BACKSPACED THAT WHOLE THING, I'M SO ENRAGED NOW. :( oh Tui. I thought you were so intelligent. Our entire friendship has been a lie.

And I think I squealed audibly at the screen when he used "decimate" correctly. <3

(John Simm = awesome. I giggled at the door thing so much.)
I basically have no objectivity on this episode. My screamy fangirl opinion cannot be trusted.

Date: 2007-06-24 11:05 pm (UTC)I thought that the perception device showed up in Torchwood -- and I seem to recall that Jack was unaffected by it, which meant that their plan seemed kinda doomed to fail from the beginning.... I was kinda disappointed in the thinking prowess of Team TARDIS there, though it did make for a good story (and for mental images of the Doctor and Master attached together by a long perception-filtering necklace, mmmhmm).
So happy with the end of this season compared to the beginning!

Date: 2007-06-25 08:29 am (UTC)I haven't seen most of TW yet :-/ kinda lost interest, so I didn't see that bit, but I am so sure I've read it heaps of other places, but I cannot remember ONE.
I actually have really liked this ENTIRE season except for Sunburn or whatever it was called, so I'm pretty happy :P
