OK, there were things about this I didn't like. it was the first book I read post-Dead Bart, for one (and how did that go down? I have no clue right now, so someone tell me.) and the (Green) art was bizarre, for two - Vic and Wally looked younger than Tim, for Pete's sake; also, Cassie has finally caved and got Barbie's proportions: listen, Cassie is human, she has human proportions, you cannot get away with what you can for Supergirl with her, and you absolutely cannot get away with giving her a tiny waist, a well-proportioned backside, and rather large breasts. I am a fan of large breasts in their place, but Cassie is, what, 17? And she's so skinny the way she's being drawn. Ugh. Also, wasn't Bart good in the Tomorrow future?
HOWEVER, there were also a BUNCH of good things, like the YJ page that nearly made me CRY I love them so much. OMG. And the Johns pages were most excellent - remember the Tim who STOLE a batmobile? And then let Bart drive it? I miss that Tim. I also kind of liked the Wally story, although it's a shame they didn't follow through to "Yeah, Barry was great to me, but I was a constant, active asshole to Bart, and he knew he had to strive for my approval because I repeatedly made goddamn clear he didn't have it."
Cassie's little speech to Tim really kind of... ugh, I don't know, I didn't mind the Cassie/Tim earlier but I hate the way she's all Comforting Woman right now. I miss the wig. And Secret. And Anita (where was she in the YJ page?) But it was REAL nice to be reminded about Steph, and Tim's dad as well as Kon. I really liked Tim's line about not respecting Bart as a person because no matter how ridiculous he was sometimes he deserved the same respect as a person that any of the YJ kids. And, obviously, the ending was fantastic and really exciting and I can't wait til next month, basically.
