Oct. 19th, 2007 03:18 pmPointless timewasting icon meme! This is fun. Comment if you want me to pick half a dozen or so of your icons to talk about.
I only have six icons, so I get to talk about all of them, courtesy of
ariastar. :D
keywords: tuibird
This is my default icon, and it's artwork of, literally, a tui bird. Er, it's kind of self-explanatory, really. Awhile ago, I used to go by Birdhead more often than not, which is a not-very-funny pun on my first name, Tui, and my last name. I used to have a bunch of icons of tuis, and then I didn't anymore, but I decided I missed them, so voila! A tui icon. It's my default icon, which means it gets used all the time because I'm just too lazy to change it, but also when I'm talking about New Zealand or myself.

keywords: har har BULLSHIT.
Heh, OK, this is like the crude cousin of my default icon. Tui, see, is also the name of a brand of beer - very cheap, crappy student beer, in fact. They run a billboard campaign which goes like: [improbable statement] Yeah, right. You know, I'm going to study really heard next year. / Yeah, right. There's a whole bunch of examples here, and they often get co-opted by clever people to be funnier, to be political commentary, the whole shebang. So this is my icon for when I'm being pissed off, sarcastic, sceptical or talking about politics and current events.

keywords: ain't never gonna be the same, girls with guns 2.0
I don't even talk about Heroes this much, but I do like this icon. The first set of keywords is from "Janie's Got a Gun" (Now that Janie's got a gun she ain't never gonna be the same, etc) and the second set is because I used to have an icon of River pointing a gun, which I really liked and used for a long time, and the keywords were girls with guns. It's my icon for feminism and self-righteousness, as well as general pretty.

keywords: bestfriends4evah!1!!, nita & kit
I asked
semiramis_mei to draw me shippy Nita/Kit art. They have this meeting space on the moon, see, and... yeah, anyway. Nita and Kit are the ultimate in best friends and I love them beyond all I can tell, in this embarassingly non-ironic way. This is the icon I use when I talk about them or anything else Young Wizards, and when I'm feeling particularly affectionate; also when I'm talking about the environment.

keywords: girl reading, study
This is Emily whatserface in In My Father's Den, which is a NZ film based on a book by Maurice Gee. She's this bright, sort-of lonely kid in backblocks new zealand, the typical bright outsider, I guess. I use her when I want to talk about university or books, for, you know, obvious reasons.

keywords: sad robots
Oh, I love this icon! It's from one of my favourite Fishing for Orphans strips, Robohugging. The borders on it are all screwy because I messed up in Photoshop, and I was too lazy to fix it because I'd deleted the base. I guess I use it when I'm feeling whimsical or sad: the story of the robot nobody wanted to hug!
