Ughhhh. I'm sick. :( I couldn't sleep sunday night, woke up early and achy on monday morning, and by the evening had the kind of sore throat really reminiscent of those strepsil ads with the, like, saws. That's nearly cleared up now but I'm currently in the stage of bedrest where you're hot and feverish and not sure if you're actually sick like a fever or if it's just that you've spent three days feeling sorry for yourself in bed. I'm going to go for the latter and try to get to class tomorrow, I guess.
I have nothing eloquent or revolutionary to say about the latest LJ drama (remember when that just meant drama on LJ, not drama with LJ?) except for two things: this really grosses me out, and I am hugely, hugely uncomfortable with the implications of removing sexualised interests from the "top interests" page - and not just, like, "bondage" and "porn" and the at least semi-potentially-offputting for investors, "fanfiction." No, no, also removed: "girls," "boys," and "bisexuality." Seriously. It turned out to be temporary, but still.
This creeps me out not because I think LJ's top interests page is a super-important part of the fight against discrimination blah blah, but because this genuinely speaks to the perceived social climate and the received attitudes of Them, you know, The Man running LJ. blargh. I feel disenfranchised. In a, um, really minor and unimportant way, but still.

Date: 2008-03-19 02:39 pm (UTC)Also--jesus christ, LJ is trying to be Facebook or something.
The whole appeal of LJ to me is that it is--was--a very raw blogging system. I hate that there's no option for base accounts anymore, and I hate that they're censoring anything at all. I really don't want to move, but at this rate it looks like I'll have to.
