... but, as is obvious, I haven't. But I am going to start: it's just that my current computer ban doesn't lend itself well to regular blogging, really. I'm joining communities, though, which is good. :)
So... meme, because they get me thinking, and then I think I'll talk about a fic that's hating me. might be therapeutic, you never know.
1) What's on your bedside table?
I don't have one. On my dresser, though, I have my CD player, my glasses, my alarm clock, some makeup, a gem tree, a mirror... *goes to look* hair stuff, the Shrek Soundtrack album case (but not the CD), sunscreen, chinese panda money box, jewelry-like items, and a plaster cast hnd-painted angel. And no, i don't know why that's there. Actually, it's a cherub.
2) What's the geekiest part of your music collection?
Music is never geeky. Music is the food of love (see icon.) But if I was going to pick one... ooh, toughie. A tie between Hirini Melbourne's Birds Trees and Insects, and... I think it's the best of Tchaikovsky, or something. Anyway, it has the Romeo-Juliet Fantasy Overture. <3!!!!!
3) What do you eat when you raid the fridge at night?
Ham. Off the bone. If we have it. Or I grate some cheese. Mostly, though, we only have rotting stuff, so I don't.
4) What is your secret "guaranteed weeping" film?
The Lion King!!! I know, the shame... :( the bit where Mufasa dies is guaranteed to make me bawl.
5) If you could have plastic surgery, what would you have done?
Does it sound wierd if I say I honestly wouldn't? I can't think of anything that I don't like enough to actually have surgery. Or that I couln't fix myself, much more easily...
6) Do you have a completely irrational fear? if so, of what?
Uhm.... no? Yes. Surgery. I fear surgery and I find that stupid, because I know it's safe, I just... >.<
7) What is the little physical habit that gives away your insecure moments?
I eat chocolate. Chocolate is what I eat. I don't know if it's exactly a physical habit but... yeah. Usually M&Ms. M&Ms are very reassuring.
8) Do you ever have to beg?
Have to? No. Do? Frequently. Usually "Please, please, pleeease write some more, darling!"
9) Do you have too many love interests?
mmph. Yeah. I don't know if love interests is exactly the right term... hopeless devotion, maybe?
10) Do you know anyone famous?
... I wanna steal PK's answer, but that would be cheating. No. Oh! Yes, I do! Sir William Pickering! (Rocket Dude. VV cool, vv old.) And the Head of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. I think that counts. *nods* Oh, and Peter Jackson's duaghter, very slightly.
11) Describe your bed.
prety wrought-iron leaf patterns. Quite traditional- four posts and the wrought iron in between at head and tail. And the best (spring) mattress in the house.
12) Spontaneous or plan?
Spontaneous.
13) Who should play you in a movie about your life?
*considers* Me.
14) Do you know how to play poker?
Badly.
15) Do you like to color?
Nope. I am not artistic, so I'm bad at it, so I don't much like it.
16) How do you drive?
I don't. I get buses.
17) What do you miss most about being little?
What do you mean, miss? I'm still little. ;) (That whole answer was stolen from PK. *nods*)
18) Are you happy with your given name?
Very.
19) What was the last song you were listening to?
The bass guitar line from "Tell Me More," played by a mate of my brother's. Oh, and the Pachelbel Canon playing in my head.
20) Have you ever been in a school play?
Sure. Claudio from Much Ado About Nothing. And I played in the orchestra for Guys and Dolls.
21) Do you like yourself and believe in yourself?
Yeah, generally... not at the moment, but almost always, yeah.
23) Have you ever done any illegal drugs?
Nup. Well, alcohol is technically illegal for me i some situations. But apart from that... no way.
24) Do you think you're cute?
Nope. But I do get hit on in public places... >.< Make it stop!
25) Do you consider yourself to be a nice person?
Yes. I think I work really hard to help others, and do stuff. I think I'm generous and care about people. On the other hand, I can be very bitchy, so maybe "nice" is the wrong word.
So... meme is done. Now I'm going to talk about the fic and hope that inspiration comes. I write on Fanfiction.net as Elsha and Mira (with my best friend. She's Elsha, I'm Mira.) It's all HP fic, because she has these two great OCs and the bestest ever characterisation of Theodore Nott, and I love them all to pieces and use them a lot. I think they're partly mine by now, because I've been the bouncing bord for so much... I contribute a lot, I think. Anyway, I'm writing a two-chapter fic, called I Will, about an OC called Estella Haywood. She's a Slytherin halfblood distantly (and believably) related to Draco Malfoy, and she is NOT a Mary Sue. She's way too bitchy and unpleasant. I'm writing about her first day at Hogwarts- the train ride and then her Sorting. Not, i know why she was Sorted into Slytherin: because she wants to prove to Draco, who she has a run-in on the train with, that she's as much a Malfoy as he is. She can be as much of a Slytherin as he is, and that is her driving ambition, so she's sorted there. It makes sense. However, the boat trip is BLOCKING me so I can't get to the Sorting. >.< I've thought about skipping it, but I think without it the second chapter will be really and disproportionately short. (if you want to take a look, the first chapter is already up... I'm also hanging out for a beta-reader, if anyone's interested.) I think it's because of Hagrid, and my copies of HPPS and HPCOS, which are the pertinent copies (Harry goes with Hagrid in first year, and Estella comes in his second year), are currently inaccessible. ARG.
Well, that was useful, actually. :) Look for I Will 2 soon!! (I hope.)
Oh, yeah, something constructive I did today? The T-Shirt company will print a shirt for me! (For Elsha's Christmas present.) "Slytherin- and loving it." eeee!!! She's going to fall over laughing. I also organised a rehearsal of the Pachelbel Canon tomorow with my quintet- Catherine from school (vln 1), Elsha's sister (Vln 2) me (vla/vln3, depending on the arrangement we pick) Elsha ('cello) and ojojojojojo (double bass.) looking forward to it, actually... :) I found two arrangements, and one is the traditional 3 violins and cello arrangement, which is very familiar and traditional, but doesn't have a bass part. I'm concerned about that because, while I could put jojo on the cello part and ask her to octave it, it will significantly alter the balance. the other arrangement is STRANGE, really odd, but is for a proper quintet. So... we'll see how it goes.
AND I had dinner with my family, and we played "I am not Nebudchanezzar," and ate THE BEST FOOD IN THE WORLD at Mirabel. So that's GOOD. *nods* a constructive evening.
