Apr. 13th, 2008 10:15 amHad a fab time at a SF&F club party last night - dressed up as Kaylee (photo, poorly apparently, danced, drank, watched Doctor Who 4x01 and BSG 4x01 and 4x02. And can I just say - BSG, AMAZING. I had been planning on leaving 4x02 because I had been a bit toasted and it was late and I like to watch these things fresh, but ultimately was too tempted by "dee dee dee, dee dee, dee dee dee" THERE ARE 12 CYLON MODELS and had to stay and watch and, !!!!!! OH MY.
OK, 1: first Cylon plot I have EVER enjoyed. I really love this 6 model, I love that she's not the highly sexualised seducer that Caprica bases her entire existence on being, I loved that Boomer cross-voted, I loved that she made the centurions smart -!!! I find the idea of her solution being cancelling out degrees of intelligence so fantastic and fascinating and involved in a whole kind of Cylon ethic that we haven't seen much of. I love that this Cylon plot isn't all about Baltar because I hate Baltar (and btw, not even the time he's spending with Hot Diane from Jake 2.0 is going to make up for that for me, still hate him, I was so excited when he nearly died last episode!
And 2: KARA. KARA KARA KARA LEE. SMOOCHIES YES PLEASE!!! and Helo finally conversing with Kara. (Also, of course, last week's Kara and Anders dialogue was pretty incredible.) Kara's first scene with Roslyn was so amazing, so challenging. "I have frakked up" oh Kara way to have introspection and be passionate and compelling and I fell even more in love SO HARD in that speech.
Actually Roslyn and Adama's scenes were pretty fabulous (I think Mary McDonnell is getting better and better - I love how she smiles when he hurts her.) Aww, everyone farewelling Lee and the drunkenness and the saluting and Dee! "I guess you got the house" ♥ ♥ ♥ I just - OK, the Kara plot last season made me desperately unhappy because it was just so self-destructive and horrible and then she died. But this is so much more fulfilling and she's become as galvanised and destined as she was during the arrow plot and I think that her downward spiral last season seems to have given her the tools to self-analyse (in terms of her worries about whether she maybe is a cylon, or a clone, as well as her speech to Roslyn) but that she no longer has the self-destructive impulses we really saw before. I mean, I'll be happiest when she's back in her viper, but in the meantime, you know... YAY.
