I liked Fringe pretty well but I was probably a bit overexcited for it. Still, it was a good solid episode, and I liked seeing a well-balanced but still not evil (probably) Walter. There were some great moments between that Walternate and Peter. However, I'm still convinced that Peter is fundamentally wrong, and these really are the original blue and red 'verses.

The guy who plays Lincoln did his usual good job. He's great fun to watch but I can't help resenting the fact that since he joined the blue 'verse team too we see even less of Astrid, and it's not like she's ever had an abundance of screen time in the first place. As hot as red 'verse Astrid is, I miss our Astrid. And they did sell us this season on Astrid taking a more involved role in the team ... it's an annoying double bluff. I notice Charlie isn't around either. As much fun as the doubling up is, it annoys me that there was a perfectly good existing character to take Peter's role as less-butch foil for Olivia and she's tossed aside in favour of some ambiguous sexual tension and jealousy. (This is probably less annoying for people who think these are new universes, but since I don't I'm like, no! Stop! Stop having cute chemistry!)

The bits with the Observer (I can't tell them apart) and Olivia were intriguing in the extreme but there wasn't enough there to hang a theory on, IMO. Did he possibly come straight from ... shoot, what's the episode where the Observer saves the woman? He gets shot at the end of that, right? For some reason I thought that might be the same Observer, just after he gets shot, but since I can't tell them apart at all I don't know why I'm thinking that.

The Vampire Diaries - is it just werewolf hybrids who get sired, or vampire hybrids too? Is Caroline actually a hybrid? Ugh, you guys, I wish the mythology on this was more clear so I could figure out how pissed off I should be at the show. I HATE, hate, the way they keep making me think Caroline is going to die. She is my very favourite and oooh, boy, if she's been sired imma be SO mad. Tyler is vile and creepy (it's been handled really well actually) and there have already been so many shenanigans with taking away Caroline's free will. She HAS to have her free will or she's just, I don't think her character will survive.

I kind of wish she'd had more time in this episode, actually, I mean, it's her birthday episode and still it's all about, not just Elena but Jeremy? Meh.

The scene in the car with Elena and Stefan was really great, I liked it a lot. Klaus was also great. And relatedly since I'm just catching up this week, Damon and Elena making out was excellent.

I made some gifs for this new Canadian show, a six-ep miniseries that's aired two episodes, called Bomb Girls. If you have some free time and are looking for something femslashy, I HIGHLY recommend it. It follows the lives of four women who work in a munitions factory during the second World War, so it has a lot of great stuff like feminism and women's stories and also, I am very very hopeful, some canon gay. It may yet end in a horrible Brokeback Mountain way, who knows, but for now it seems really sweet. The acting is ... not flawless, I fear, but the costumes are great and it has an awesome period feel. Give it a go - it's only two episodes right now anyway, painless and easy to get into.
