Date: 2004-06-04 07:45 am (UTC)1. I agree that most New Zealand poetry is hard-out contemporary (a lot of it to the point where it just becomes pretentious)
2. I TOTALLY agree about rhyming!!! (that's why I virtually never do it except for internal rhyme...) It takes a really talented writer not to make rhyming sound cheesy. I much prefer half-rhyme like Wilfred Owen used a lot (Yes we're doing his poems currently in Enlgish.. tehe)
