*waves* Hi all,

I am hideously, revoltingly, horribly sick. As such, I won't be at school today (Actually, Ally, if you see this in time could you give my apologies to Mrs Brown??) because, you know, ILLNESS. It's disgusting.

I want sympathy.

I was wondering why you weren't at Philosophy! We were supposed to be discussing whether competition in sport is an issue of comfirming the competitors' self-esteem but it predictably turned to the Destiny Church...*sends you mucho sympathy* Not illness but I had a nosebleed today. Second in a week. :| I haven't had any in years!

Nope, there was not. But Kyla and Ellen wrote a song about fundamentalist Christians "Life is great when you're a fundamentalist Christian, hating yet loving in the name of God. Oooh fundamentalism, oooh Christianity, oooh Fascism, you sexy God you!" REALLY dumb, but they were quite funny performing it.

We talked about it in RE as well, there was a recurring theme of people objecting to them making small children march when most of them don't even know what homosexuality is (I mean I found out when I was 7 because there was a thing on the news about a gay man who was murdered and I asked what gay meant, but a lot of children aren't that inquisitive) apparently a news person talked to one of the kids and he said "we're marching against the evil people." Now that is saddening.

AHAHA! Oh, I'm sorry I missed that, I really am! Hah!

Yeah, I know a lot of people have objected to the small kids marching thing... someone wrote a letter to the paper saying that everyone has a right to teach their children what they see to be good moral values, which is very true, but...

.. I guess to me the difference is, moral values are one thing but moral values that invoke hatred, becuse that's what the march was doing, should not be imposed.

Oh, and, you did it in RE, so.. What did mr edgecombe think? I am insanely curious.

Uh huh. But then again it's harder to see that sort of thing when the cause is something that you support... I can;t see myself objecting to people taking small children to a protest that I agree with and I feel really horrible and hypocritical.

o.O it's amazing how similarly we think. because I had been thinking the same thing:
"What if I saw kids going along to an anit-Nuclear or anti-Vietnam protest? Would I think the same thing?"

in the end, though, I decided that there's a difference, and the differece is still hate; because the Destiny church is specifically against a very specific, very personal group, as opposed to a policy or an action.

Also, there's a big difference in tone. Black shirts vs flower power?

That's true. And I do get really upset when I see people being hateful and militant, even when I do agree with their politics. It makes me feel ashamed of my beliefs :(

I also have a present for you, go here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v396/insequential/tuilayout/layoutimage.jpg) and have a look. It's going to be the header of your layout, except it's not optimized yet so the colours might look a bit funny. I hope you like it.
