So, I went to see Wimbledon today with [livejournal.com profile] miriamus. Cutting for details, out of respect for the non-teenage-girls among my f-list.

Okay, so, as I pointed out to Mims, this felt less like, say, The Mighty Ducks or whatever than it did like Love Actually- unsurprising, since it's by the same people. This is really good, because I can't STAND sports films. Also it made no attempt towards realism, which was good: there's no way you can really make a 119th ranked wildcard winning Wimbledon sound sensible. Therefore, it turned out to be pretty much a rom-com with lots of scenes on tennis courts. ;) And, ultimately, it was a nice one- with the added bonus of Paul Bettany and Kirsten Dunst. Sweet, a little silly, happy ending, hot people, what more does one want?

It ocurred to me while watching that Paul Bettany may, in fact, be the answer to Hugh Grant, who I detest; inevitably he plays incompetent foppishly handsome idiots, or sleazes. I can't stand either, so although I almost always like the movies, because I'm a girl and I like romantic comedies, nevertheless I hate him. Paul Bettany seems like the answer. he isn't handsome in the conventional way, he has a much nicer but still British voice, and he actually plays in films other than Four Weddings and a Funeral and its ilk- I first saw him as Chaucer in A Knight's Tale, in which he was hilarious, and then as Maturin in Master and Commander, another performance I thoroughly enjoyed. So hooray. ;)

And a brief note on kisten Dunst: I am apparently the only person on the planet who thinks she's hot. But, you know, I don't care. She should have stayed redhead, though. :p

Apart from that, there's nothing. Except I have this choral rehearsal tomorrow- I'm singing in Beethoven's Ninth with the <a href="http://www.wyo.wellington.net.nz>Wellington Youth Orchestra</a> in their final concert this year, which will be fun, adn the first rehearsal's tomorrow. :-) Wish me luck, and hope tehre's someone my age at the rehearsal- I amd having considerable doubts. :p And I saw Smallville tonight. Am I the only one who finds it wierd that they haven't changed the title credits at all since the last time I watched the show- which must be more than a year ago now??

No way, I think she's gorgeous!

But you're right on the redhead-thing. :D
