So this is one of those Life posts, since I don't usually do those.

1. My grandfather died on Tuesday after about a week of failing. He's been really unwell so it's not a surprise and in some ways it's a relief but, of course, still upsetting. Also, all my mother's rellies live in Australia so the house is packed and it'll be worse this weekend for the funeral, sigh.

2. I've been seeing someone for awhile, except he lives in Christchurch so there's not so much of the actual visual seeing (ask me how I feel about that!) (Best timing in the world: he's visiting this week, when I basically have to be at home as much as I can. Awesome.) This makes me, I'm pretty sure, the last of my queer galpals from secondary school to be dating a man. I am comforting myself with the fact that I was bisexual then and am still bisexual now, but still, I do feel kind of dirty.

3. I've decided to do that publishing course next year.

4. I think three is a good number, so here, have a TMI period question: everyone knows that after the first couple nights, period flow is lighter at night than at day, true? Now, I always assumed this had to do with, you know... gravity. (Imagine a water bottle lying on its side.) However, my sister insists that it has to do with being *asleep*. This is emphatically nonsense, right?

1. Mm, I know that relieving-but-still-upsetting feeling; that's how my grandfather went a couple of years ago also. I'm so sorry, sweetie, and good luck living with all the relatives for a short while. *HUGS*

2. Seeing someone! Awesome! And I would tell you to be assured of your bisexuality and that dating a man should not make you any less queer, but my forays with boys give me the same feeling, so. (Hi, this is my "I want to say helpful things but instead am just identifying massively with this post" reply.)

4. I am pretty sure it is more about gravity than about body rhythm, but who knows! The water-bottle-on-its-side analogy seems sensemaking, anyway.

I'm sorry about your Grandfather. It's never easy losing a Grandparent.

I say gravity. Because I've noticed some times that there is a Rush of blood after I've been up and about for a few minutes, which suggests that it was all just waiting for the right slope.

I second this. I always start my period in the morning, when I get up and gravity can do its work. Plus I can't think of any good reason why sleep should interfere with blood loss.

Sorry to hear about your grandfather.
And hurrah for making decisions about life. I presume the Whitereia course, as opposed to overseas...
