Nov. 13th, 2004 11:53 amI got told that I'm not allowed to make a comment on this until I've talked about it with Lucy. But that doesn't mean I can't mention it here, right?
What I really, really, really want to know is how he found Lucy's LJ. So, y'all? If you do happen to know how one (1) Act-loving going-to-grow-up-to-be-Martyn-Turner fairly rude Wellington College student might have found
sixth_light, I'd love to know.
I feel justified, BTW, in saying all of the above; except for the "rude" bit, which I think is fairly self-evident in his comment (mm, and now I'm wondering if little Stevie is going to turn up here and be annoyed. *amused*) I don't feel that he can afford to be insulted by either of the others. So that's all good.

Date: 2004-11-13 11:22 am (UTC)That's cool. :D I love New Zealand, but I guess if I had to describe it, I'd say small. Not provincial- I believe Wellington and Auckland to have all the cityness of any overseas city, but downscaled in numbers; We have a more urbanised lifestyle in our "cities" than towns of identical sizes in, say, the States do. But, yeah, NZ is kinda small. But pretty. And cool. And liberal- well, except for Steve (may as well mention him, as he seems to be favour of the moment. Don't worry, it's a personal joke.) What else... well, we have a pathetic self-esteem, so often we only feel stuff is good of it gets recognition overseas, which is kinda sad. We can be pretty polarised over race relations recently. The "big" moral issues in Parliament right now are race relations and the Civil Union Bill; Labour, the Left-Wing party (Like Democrats in America, only way lefter) wants to continue to ratify the Treaty of Waitangi, and National, which is right-wing, doesn't. Um, that's such a gross simplification, but you could probably find out quite a lot about that here: http://www.treatyofwaitangi.govt.nz/ The Civil Union Bill is a bill that would grant gay couples in a civil union the same rights to straight couples who are married or who are also in a civil union. Labour and National are split over this- most of Labour is pro, quite a lot of National is against, but there are discrepencies- it's a conscience vote issue so politicians vote with their personal feelings rather than with their Party.
Um, what else can I tell you about NZ? I dunno, what would you like to know?
