Actually, up until July I'm taking it any way I can get it (although it makes me feel, variously, like a whinger, begger and a prostitute). From July, though, WOO CREDIT CARD.
And before you say anything, I don't want a credit card so i can spend money I don't have, I want one so I can spend money on Amazon. And LJ. And this cafepress shop for this one particular site. And, and, and, other places.

On a serious note, take a tip from Gary Larson and never eat anything bigger than your head. By which I mean use the card only for the convenience but not for the credit aspect and pay the FULL amount EVERY month. 18% is a killer.
I speak from bitter experience - I had to take out a personal loan to pay off both my credit cards at one time (I now have only one and She Who Must Be Adored scrutinizes the account, which is a bugger when it comes to presents for Her) as in 2.5 years of making the minimum monthly payment, I owed as much principal as I'd spent.
They don't want you to operate it like that, of course, because they only make money off the interest. But screw them - they work for you, don't forget ;-)
Oh, believe me, I know. i'm going to write down the number, MEMORISE it, and then cut the card into shreds so I'm not tempted to use it for any other reason. Because I have real money problems, in an I-spend-everything-i-have way and I really, really do not want a credit card debt on top- I've never been in debt, except to Meg constantly (except right now she actually owes me some money!! :p this is such a novelty). So yeah, trust me, I know the position I don't want to be in, and that is the spending money I don;t even have position.
