So, Fraser? a pretty emotional guy. I can totally imagine Fraser thinking a lot of things that I wouldn't ever imagine any other male character thinking - he can pull it off, definitely. So Fraser might indeed think, in so many words, of Ray as "the man he wanted to spend the rest of his life with."

But the thing is? Other things go with Fraser's POV, like grammar. FRASER WOULD NOT END THAT SENTENCE IN A FREAKING PROPOSITION, OKAY? "The man WITH WHOM he wanted to spend the rest of his life." (Also? Not "the man with whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life with." Criminy.) Don't end sentences with a proposition if it's Fraser thinking! Just say no!

I bet he wouldn't split infinitives, either.

Yes, I know, I'm whackadoodle but I have actually hit the back button on fics that did this. They were usually deficient in other ways too, but it was the straw.

(Actually, I disagree, but then I don't think ending a sentence with a preposition is an error, and I think Fraser thinks much more naturally than he speaks in formal situations.)

Yeah, I do kind of have a dysfunction about ending sentences in propositions - in formal language, anyway. You could probably convince me that Fraser thinks more naturally thank he speaks, but I don't know, I usually feel that paraphrasing thoughts ought to be broadly grammatical anyway. Nobody really thinks in bad grammar.

Well, people make speech errors, inside and outside their heads. I know there's at least one place in canon where Fraser makes a speech error, though I can't remember where or what (and I wouldn't include ending a sentence in a preposition to be a speech error). Nobody's perfect.
